Ask: Are you licensed and insured? Can I see references and recent work? Who's actually on the crew? What's the written scope, timeline, and payment schedule? How do you handle changes and cleanup? Is there a warranty? Get everything in writing, avoid big upfront cash payments, and make sure permits (if needed) are their responsibility. Clear answers = a pro worth hiring.
