How do I stop my roof from leaking before storm season?

Look for missing/curling shingles, cracked flashing around chimneys and vents, and clogged gutters causing backups. Small fixes — replacing a shingle, resealing flashing — are doable if you're comfortable on a roof, but safety first. Interior water stains often mean the leak is upstream of where you see it. A pre-season roof inspection is cheap insurance.
