Fans and Ventilation
Posted July 12, 2014
Project Description
I would break out the job into two components: 1) I need a new vent installed to ventilate a new stove hood. 2) I need the new stove hood installed. I believe I have all the supplies but need someone with better tools than I to perform the work. The intended route of the vent would be through the kitchen ceiling then between the rafters to the outside and then angled down to an outlet in the soffit. The total length is less than eight feet. I have already cut holes in the ceiling drywall and thin plastic of the soffit. However I found the rim joist to be too high and in a tight recessed area for me to cut through with my tools. I believe someone with the right tools will make quick work of cutting through the rim joist and then feeding the 6" diameter flexible tubing through. The selected candidate will have to provide all of his/her own tools and references. I would expect that this work could be completed in two hours by an experienced handyman.
